We have been having the same problem with a
Microtek Scanmaker 4. I swapped the original unit
with Microtek (an extremely lengthy and unpleasant
adventure, I must say), and just received the new
unit this morning. My user hooked it up (to a Mac
G3, 128 MB RAM) and we have exactly the same
problem we started with.

These lines appear at regular intervals down the
entire scan screen but ONLY when he uses the
Unsharp Mask filter function in the scanner
software. If he doesn't use that setting, but uses
Photoshop's Unsharp Mask settings to achieve the
same result, he get no lines.

So do I get back on the merry-go-round with
Microtek "tech support", or is the culprit my
user? He's used computers before, you know, so he
doesn't need help setting anything up.
