I have an HP Scanjet 5470C which came bundled with Paperport 7.0. I
originally installed it on a Win98 machine and it worked with no
problem. I latter installed it on a new machine with a clean install of
Windows XP Pro also with no problem. Recently I updated XP with SP1 and
also updated Wordperfect 10 with SP3. After one of those updates, I
started getting errors to the effect that Paperport could not load Links
and specifically it could not load the file MAXLINK3.DLL.

I changed the Compatibility mode to Win 2000 and got the program to load
all the way but I now got the message that 

"Wordperfect 10 link problem - Cannot create a link because specified
link name already in use"


The bottom line was that there were two links to Wordperfect 10 in the
Paperport 7.0 program. Once I deleted one of the links, Paperport worked
correctly and I no longer needed to run Paperport in Compatibility mode.
I know not why the second link to Wordperfect got into the Paperport
program.
