Hello everybody!

I want to scan preview-Pictures from fotonegative with a HP4c flat bed
scanner (to find out which picture looks best for develope). I tried to
light up the neg.stripes with a fluorescent tube, mounted above the scanner
but I got a lot of stripes (may be a 50Hz flickering?) all over the scan.
Lighting up with a halogen bulb is better (there are no stipes in the
image!) but I can not light up the image evenly.
So, has anyone a solution for this problem?
Oh - please don't tell me to buy a neg-Scanner, they are to expensive! And
Iļæ½m a amateur handicraftsmen, so it is a challenge!

For all the guys they want to convert Neg.-Pos. have a look for this, it
works fine:

Thanks to kaz (kazoobie@smileyface.com) for this nice link!

Take a look at the adapter that HP sells:
http://store.scanjet.com/scanjet/slide_ad.asp
If you're handy, you should be able to figure out how it works.
There's even a manual at:
http://store.scanjet.com/scanjet_assets/hpslide.pdf
The adapter is basically two mirrors at a right angle that direct
the light from the scanner's own lamp up over the slide and then
through it from above.
I pasted 2 mirrors on the inside of a cut-up milk carton, and it
works. You have to move it around a bit until you get an evenly
lit field.

Enjoy!
