Can anyone offer any advice please?

Here's the problem: I have just upgraded my internal modem to a 33.6
and I've got a 486 (which isn't plug & play) running Win 95 so I've
had to mess around with jumpers/ports etc. I've managed to get the
modem to function properly but now my handscanner won't work. It's a
Mustek CG8000T with an IF-980  card which doesn't have any jumpers or
switches to adjust. Now when I try to scan anything or re-load the
Twain scanner software the screen freezes and I have to re-boot. I
thought re-loading the software after installing the new modem might
work, but I can't do this because the screen freezes.

Has anyone overcome a similar problem? Any advice/suggestions would be
welcome.
