Hello All,

I have a pc that works fine for everyday work but when i play games or
use anything that works the video card the monitor goes blank and says
no dpms and the hard drive light stays on and i have to hold the power
button on for 6 seconds for to beable to shut down the pc and restart
it. Sometimes i can actually platy the game for 5 minutes before it
crashes.

My pc has the following specs.

AMD 1.2 GHz CPU
MSI 6330 Turbo2
512 MB of RAM
30 GB western digital HD 5400
GeForce 2 MX 400 64MB w/tv out
LG 52X CD ROM
3C90B network card
300 watt power supply

windows 2000 + SP2
Office XP
directX 8.1a
MSI 4 in 1 4.34A driver pack
IE 6.0
winzip 8
paintshop pro7

Games :
Quake 3
Microsoft 4X4 demo

I have replaced the video card, the ram and the main board and hard
drive. I have even tried windows XP, windows 98 SE, but i always get
the same problem. I can leave the PC on for several days without any
problems. but when i start something like microsoft 4x4 demo the pc
crashes after a few minutes of play.

Thanks in advance if anyone can offer a suggestion.

The fact that you have it working for a bit, and then it seems to poop out
implies either heat, or overclocking, or a bad power supply...the unit
itself, or the path the power takes to the card itself.

sounds like an overheat problem. You said your PC crashes after a few
minutes, don't you ? Check the monitoring of all the fans (in bios or using
something like 'Motherboard Monitor')..Maybe a bit of thermal paste on the
core of the CPU will be a good idea too.Is the 'Ventirad' mounted on your
CPU well sized ? (Athlon just produce lots of heat...).Fixation problems may
occurs with cheap radiator.
