I've got an Annihilator 2 video card. I am using it on a gigabyte 7ZX
motherboard, running 512 megs of ram with a triple boot of Win98, Win2000,
and WinXP. It does not matter which operating system I use it in. I have
tried in AGP, X2, and X4 mode. Everytime I try to play a game it creates an
error. (Win98 locks up). From my oldest games including Quake2,
Alice......... I have put my VooDoo3 video card back in. I have tried 3
different sets of drivers and still can't get the GeForce 2MX to work. Can
anybody help me out?
Thanks

When you remove the Voodoo you have to completely remove all traces of its
drives, 3dfx tools, and registry entries.

Do the following:

1) Go to Control Panel>Add remove programs: Uninstall 3dfx tools
2) reboot and change to a generic vga driver (microsoft driver) you select
from a list.
3) reboot. Go into safe mode by pressing F8 on boot up
4) Go into device manager and remove multiple entries from the display
adapter.
5) While in safe mode. Use Start>Find>Files and folders:
Search for the following: v3*.*, glide*.*, 3dfx*.*.
Delete anything with these as related to your Voodoo3 in the
Windows\system and Windows\system32 folders.
6) Shut down
7) remove Voodoo3, put in Geforce2MX
8) Boot into Windows...will probably try to install drivers -Cancel all the
way through. Use the 6.5 Detonators for now (you can experiment with the
Betas later).
9) Reboot when drivers installed. Change resolution to something acceptable.
Also install your monitors driver (or use Plug n Play if it is).

10) Should be good to go from there. Games may need to be run in safe mode
(Like Unreal Tournament) to change renderer from glide to OpenGl or
Direct3D, and some games would be best to reinstall or delete the config
file. Especially if you have been using a MiniGL or WickedGL drivers.

11) If problems still persist. reinstall windows.

Good luck

Thank you very much. I already tried your solution. Guess I will go with a
fresh install of XP for now.
Thanks again
