Odd: CL Anni-Pro w/DDR @ only 143mhz?

Now this is interesting...

I picked up a GeForce DDR white box today. It has
Creative Labs CT6970 stamped on it, and has usual
32mb of Infineon 6ns DDR onboard.

The BIOS does not indicate Creative Labs anywhere
but instead indicates a generic NVIDIA BIOS, as
version # 2.10.03. So, I was skeptical already.

Rather odd thing is, Powerstrip reports the speed
of the DDR ram at 286mhz (which in actual fact is
only 143mhz DDR), when it should be reporting the
speed as 300mhz (150ddr).

Anyway, if someone knows a URL where I can find a
genuine CL BIOS for this card, let me know, as it
would be nice to get this board running full spec
eventually.

In the meantime, I plan on pounding CL's support
staff about this issue - white box or not, they
should not be stamping their name on a card with
a non-Creative Labs bios onboard. Unprofessional
and embarrassing are too terms that jump into my
mind, and not by accident...

Thanks for any assistance anyone can provide.

I have the same card and bios. Please post if you discover where to get
the cl bios. (I don't have the underclocked memory problem though)

I'm looking through Zoiah's BIOS modification tools
as I type this - and will test some out using the
vgabios tool before I actually flash it. I expect
that the CL staff with claim NR (No Responsibility)
regarding this white-box, since it doesn't have
their BIOS installed - that's what I like to call
the "Corporate Backdoor Policy" where they can and
will use any possible means to wipe their dirty
hands clean of the problem.

I'll report back with findings...

(I plan on modifying the scipt to update the memory
speed to what it should be (150-ddr).

you can also try this one http://24.19.141.85/clbios/ it's on their site,
but I get the error "creative's id not found" when I use it.

I received the same error as you did, as it is
checking for a valid CL BIOS on the EEPROM as
the first step in its program.

No worries, though!

MANY, MANY thanks to Zoiah and everyone who has
contributed to his site and utilities. Without
his BIOS pages, I would be stuck running my DDR
at 120/143 with a generic NVIDIA BIOS. I know,
so what big deal, right?  That's not the point;
the point is I paid for a CL Anni Pro and was
stuck with an NVIDIA BIOS with sub-standard DDR
speed.

Anyway, I downloaded the following:

- 2.10.04 CL BIOS from Zoiah's page
- nvflash 3.03 executable
- biosmod 2.12 executable & DLL
- geforce script 2.10.02.01
- vgabios test executable
- dos4gw executable

I tested the raw CL 2.10.04 BIOS successfully,
using the vgabios program. Something to note:
just testing this BIOS resulted in the normal
ram timing of 150-DDR, so technically speaking
I did not 'have' to modify the script.

But I did modify a copy of geforce script to
include updated ram timings of 150 and DDR, and
also to enable sidebanding, using the tutorial.
After testing with vgabios for an hour, it has
been working perfectly fine with looping 3DM2K.

So, I flashed it with the modified bios and all
is well: CL Anni Pro, 120/150, CL BIOS 2.04,
and sidebanding enabled. If sidebanding ever
starts to cause me problems, then I'll simply
flash back to the base BIOS.

Once again - thanks to Zoiah and everyone who
has linked to and mentioned his site. This is
what the 'net was created for.
