Apple and Commodore managed to do GUIs that didn't require 120 MHz Pentiums to get decent performance. AmigaOS did useful real-time multitasking on a 7 MHz 68000 with 512K RAM. MacOS ran in 128K. Microsoft isn't successful because of any technical competance. They just got lucky being chosen by IBM for the PC. And once they became the standard they were able to lock everyone in, because you need Windows to run Windows software and you need to run Windows software because that's what there is. It's a natural monopoly. >And of course my programs are so good >that this will persuade millions more to buy Windows <g>. That's the reason people buy Windows. The software. What you need to do is write for WABI and Wine. Then your software will still work under Windows, but it'll also work under the emulators. -- If the best part of waking up is Folgers in the cup... ... nothing worse can happen to you all day!
