Observations:

1) One or more degrees in Computer Science do no necessarily mean that the
individual is particularly competent as a programmer. It does
indicate that the individual has the _potential_ to be competent.

2) Griping about what Billy the Kid has or hasn't done accomplishes
nothing. If you want to do something positive, champion Linux or one of
the other operating systems and develop the "killer app" that will make
people want to use that operating system. The _ONLY_ way to hurt Billy
the Kid is by whacking him in the pocketbook.

3) Generally speaking, there is _no_ single superior OS or language.
There are operating systems and tools that may be better suited for one
purpose or another.

4) There are _many_ problems with the Windows family of operating systems
and products. C'est la vie. Vote with your checkbook (see #3).

5) I doubt that Bill G. personally goes after any one developer (I've met
him and trust me, we're well beneath his interest). If someone gets
"blackballed" from the MSDN, I'd sure be interested in knowing exactly
what happened. If Microsoft happens to have developed a similar product
and got it to market first, well, that's business. I've been on the wrong
end of that one myself.

6) When Microsoft chooses to discontinue support for DOS, then it will
truly be dead. Those choosing to stay with that operating system need to
let companies like Novell and IBM know that they _want_ a character based
system as an alternative to a GUI based one, because Micro$oft has
declared that the future is GUI. (For what it's worth, so have most
software developers).

Chuck

P.S. Direct all flames to /dev/null because you really can't hurt my
feelings.
