The idea is a system designed to provide access NOW to the internet to anyone that has a standard telephone line and cable TV. A site is set up with both a internet connection and a cable TV station capacity. Hereafter this will be called ALLNET-TV. In relationship to internet access, this site will function just the same as many other sites connected to the internet. A user logs on to the system. The User is able to give the Site Computer Commands. The Site Computer acts as if the User is at the Computer Terminal, accessing other sites, storing information for the user, and forwarding this information to the User's screen as required. With the ALLNET-TV system, the User logs onto the system on a standard (pot) telephone line. It may be at that time, the User would receive a voice message on what TV channel to turn their TV set to and how the ALLNET-TV functions. Thereafter the signals from the Users telephone are converted to digital data. The User would be asked for their User ID and given access to their account. The telephone pad would function as certain computer keys such as the arrow keys and space bar being converted to digital data before reaching the Site Computer or voice commands could be given and converted to that usable data. Instead of the site information being sent to a computer screen, the information would be converted to a TV signal and sent out over a cable TV channel to the User. Each User would require a filter between Their cable TV connection and their TV. Each packet (screen) sent to the User would start with a signal opening their filter and end with a signal closing their filter. This filter would be the only required hardware for the User besides their TV and their telephone. I would hope this filter would be available for under $20. Packets for many users would be sent over the same cable TV channel. It may be that reduction in the amount of data sent would require lower screen resolution. The only additional Site requirements would be a cable TV output, an output converter, and an input converter. This may be as simple as a 486 with add on cards or simply software. The term ALLNET-TV(tm) are my own and may be used freely by anyone developing, using or writing about this system. I have posted this to groups that may have readers interested in developing the ALLNET-TV system. My reason for putting this idea for the ALLNET-TV system out over the internet is the hope that this system will be developed in a competitive environment and allow low cost internet access to people that do not have or can not afford a computer. Knowledge should be accessible to all. James F. Taylor (No Connection to SDSMT besides my account) 2218 Jackson Blvd. #3 Rapid City, SD 57702
