Paul,

It is an interesting idea you have there. I see a problem with what
you want to do, though. Usually the remote PC must call the host PC
and take control of it. If you have your host PC at work dial your
remote PC at home, which can be done through scripting, then I don't
think the software will know what to do. If you set up the PC in your
office as the remote PC and your home PC as the host PC, that will not
do the trick either, as that would let you work on your home PC from
the office (!), not, I'm sure, what you want to do, either.

If your office has a network, another solution might be to install a
communication server on the network. Multi-Tech makes one, or there
are others. By putting a comm server on your network, the modem would
not be attached to your PC, but to the comm server. If you can get a
direct line to the modem on the comm server, then, when you dial in,
you will be presented with a list of hosts to take over, including
your own. This might be a problem if you can't get a direct line
anywhere in your company, but I thought the problem might be that you
can't get a direct line to your desk.

Sorry I couldn't be more help, but if the above idea seems like it
will work, please call Multi-tech UK at 1-344-891266 or e-mail me in
Amsterdam or call me at 31-20-571-1840.

Hope this helps.
