How big is each record? Is this a one-time conversion or will updates be required in the future? Will the Palm application need add, change, or delete records? If so, will these changes need to be transferred to the PC? What is the target Palm device? I can handle your project. Check my web page for details about me. I would think, however, that you could probably handle your needs with off-the-shelf products like ThinkDB a lot cheaper. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Free software - Baxter Codeworks www.baxcode.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Flying Man" <frederic@pacific.net.sg> wrote in message news:bkgivo$i8t$1@mawar.singnet.com.sg... > Hi, > Looking for a palm programmer to write a program to: > 1. I ended up with HanDbase as the best candidate. IIRC it didn't directly import dbfs but does import Excel files. Sine Excel _will_ directly import dbfs it was pretty easy to use excel and save the dbf as a .xls file and then use the HanDbase import program to set up download to my Treo. HandBase also has package to create custom views of the data, I haven't used it yet as I was happy with data in default view. I have started using the HanDbase checkbook app which gives a pretty good idea of what a customized app might look like. BTW, one of the biggest reasons I went with HanDbase is I needed to do _arithmetic_ with the records on my Treo. I was suprised how many "database" apps lacked the ability to manipulate numbers (subtractions, sums, etc). IIRC HanDbase was also one of the few that allowed relating multiple tables. I don't remember if my Excel/HanDbase solution can handle dbf memo fields. HTH, jim b
