Hi there,

I want to learn Palm programming, so downloaded gcc, PRC-tools from
Palm.com. I also bought a book called "Palm Programming Bible". I installed
Cygwin, PRC-Tools and Palm SDK. Then try to compile the Hello World example
from CD come with the book. But I received this error:

    m68k-palmos-gcc -O2 -c hello.c -o hello.o
    cpp: unrecognized option `-remap'
    In file included from hello.c:14:
/PalmDev/include/PalmOS.h:25: SystemPublic.h: No such file or directory
/PalmDev/include/PalmOS.h:26: UIPublic.h: No such file or directory
    make: *** [hello.o] Error 1

This is the first time I use all those tools mentioned above. Anyone had
similiar experience? And anyone can give me some help?

Thanks a lot!

Li

As you can see these two files could not be found. You firstly have to make
sure you have them and secondly make sure they are in your
path..."/etc/resolve.conf".
Otherwise use the -I switch ( I think that is it but check it.) to tell gcc
where to get the header files.

NOOOOO! *cry* *scream!*

/etc/resolv.conf (note spelling) is a NETWORK configuration file used for
RESOLVING domain names by specifying domain paths, name servers and
resolution orders, and has absolutely *NOTHING* to do with include files or
compiling.

That is correct. However, there's a problem before this. The preprocessor
gets an option it doesn't understand. To me it looks like it may be calling
"cpp" instead of "m68k-palmos-cpp".
I also remember from building the Palm gcc development kit myself, that
there were a couple of directories that had to be symlinked into the main
gcc build directory to avoid some errors and warnings. And - you MUST get
the exact correct version of all the different tools - newer versions will
not work.

Regards,

Wow... you know, installing gcc is not really for beginners...
maybe you should get a copy of CodeWarrior and use that?

http://www.massena.com has a Palm section. This section has links to
some newsgroups including one on GCC programming. I had some troubles
with my GCC setup and got answers in that newsgroup.
