Viruses replicate. That _is_ replication. The hypothetical program places a copy of its loader program in every email you send out. The loader program causes the installation of a copy of the virus in the target computers. True, it doesn't copy itself directly from point A to point B, but relies upon a third site from which the program is copied over; however, a virus isn't disqualified from being a virus simply because of its style infection.
