In CMOS setup, be sure drive C: or hard disk 1 (or 0) is set to the
parameters you posted: 980 cylinders 10 heads 17 sectors per track.
Don't worry about any other settings for this drive. (Like precomp)

If you have DOS 6.xx just boot to disk one and let it take over.

Otherwise, run FDISK, then FORMAT C: /S
