No sound from CD-drive

Can someone tell me what could be wrong:

I installed a second CD-drive and I believe it's since than that I have no
longer sound from audio-CD's. As far as I have controlled, I think all the
settings are right, concerning multimedia in the properties panel. The audio
cable connected to the soundcard is OK. I also tested another card, same
result. Audio from CD is enabled and I recieve none error messages. When I
insert a CD, the audio panel comes up and starts playing, although without
sound.

IDE-configuration:
MB-primary = 2 x HD
MB-secondary = HD (master) and CD-RW (slave)
Soundcard SB32 = CD - drive (master)

The audio-cable is connected with the CD-RW. Connecting with the other
CD-drive gives the same result.

Any help is welcome,
