Immediate openings available for an Java/ EJB Infrastructure Architect in  
the Richmond, VA area. Candidates should have experience with the  
following:

This project is a proof-of-concept project that is responsible for defining the
system architecture (i.e., at the infrastructure and not application/business  
level) for the next generation of applications. Define how various  
middleware technologies that are provided by third-parth vendors are  
integrated.  Additionally, define services to augment or replace when  
necessary the services provided by the middleware vendors.

Responsiblities:
Assisting in defining the architecture.  The achitecture itself is the result of
several collaborating groups within the project, each addressing some  
architectural facet such as security, transactions, foundation classes, system  
management, etc..   Will also ensure that the resulting architecture is  
cohesive and that it addresses the important architectural issues.

Qualified candidates should have solid experience with the following:

- Integration. 
- Experience building distributed systems, specifically, EJB-based (i.e.,
component based) systems
- Experience with software security systems, specifically, public-key
cryptography
- Experience with full-lifecycle software development activities/process
using UML, i.e., use cases, class diagrams, collaboration diagrams, etc.
- Experience with distributed transaction systems - when to use distributed
transactions, when not to 
- Experience with system management services based on SNMP
- Ability to present/represent the architecture to other groups
- Various other skills that are important include:
    - Java
    - XML
    - CORBA
    - TUXEDO
    - UNIX
    - Windows NT
    - WebLogic or some other application server
    - HTTP/HTTPS
- Must be team-oriented.

Both contract and full-time positions are available. Salaries/ rates are
commensurate with experience.
