newbie install

I have tried installing Red Hat 9.0 on my system but failed.

I am using a Gigabyte mobo (GA-8IHXP) with the onboard raid enabled. It so
happens that Linux does not identify the raid controller as such, only as a
normal ide controller.

Can any one point me to a Linux 9.0 driver for my onboard raid. The mobo
uses the Promies 20276 chipset

Appreciate any assistance

There is ways of getting the ide raid to work but its experimental right
now. You would have to build your own kernel from source.

I have heard of using software raid but I don't know how to do that. Best
thing is to just read the howtos and get more familiar with linux. Just
disable the raid in the bios for now and use the promise controller as a
regular controller. Best thing is to just use it, and you will figure it
out soon enough.

Good Luck

first turn off virus protection in bios to get the install to work
then you will need help from someone with raid knowledge and that isn't me.
