Before formatting the drive (which incidentally was in a major mess) device manager showed display adapter as a SiS??? and soundcard etc as a Crystal??? (??? inserted because model no's etc weren't taken at the time - DOH!!) can anyone help please? -- My email address is ANTI-SPAMMED Remove SPAMTRAP for email replies

Quite simple... The numbers refer to the devices of the brands which appear in your device manager. Crystal Semiconductor produces exellent sound devices, in your case the CS 4232, and SiS produces all kinds of chipsets, including display drivers which would be your SF1128HV+R9 refer to. WWW.Winfiles.com has a page which can lead you to all major producers' drivers. Good Luck!

You ca go for drivers directly to Crystal or Cirrus Logic site(Crystal is a
Cirrus Logic Division). Their adresses are:
www.crystal.com or www.cirrus.com. About the video adapter: You can try to
identify it by it's FCC ID.
Go to www.driverguide.com and do it.
Best
