I dunno about the acronym, but the motherboard/powersupply/power switch are all integrated to comply with the new "green" standarts, and they are NOT compattable with any thing else on the market. The power supply sports a 18- or 20-pin comnnector that ties to the m/b. and the power switch connects to the m/b thru a jumper wire similar to the front panel connectors. It then feeds thru a relay, back to another relay in the p.s., that then closes contacts to provide power to the m/b. It is also Win95 enabled, so when you click on "shut down the computer" it REALLY DOES! Right now, the only experience that I ahve had with these is in the Micron M55hi series m/b's, and we have had some problems with the real time clock turning off and on at power off/on. Cute, huh? Anyway, that's all the skinny I have on ATX at this time. Hope it helps. any questions, e--mail me. Steve -- saklein@swbell.net

I thought that an ATX board was when you've got the serial & parallel ports (actual connectors) built right onto the motherboard. Sort of like an old PS/2 or a Packard Bell. They make specific cases designated "for ATX" to accomodate the openings.
