Have you installed any new software at all? Have you made any changes to the
hardware set-up?
Has it just started happening? What is the spec of the machine?
It would be helpful to post more info to assist anyone in replying Andy.

I have had exactly the same problem, but mine seemed to be down to Mcafee
anti-virus software which was causing it to hang. Removed the reference to
it in autoexec.bat and it was all OK.
