I would like to install a second hard drive in my PC as the first one is filling up. Is it best to install one which is the by same manufacturer as the first hard drive or will any brand be OK? Are the Seagate Medalist a good HD? Thanks in advance. Andy K

Generally, any make will do. This is always true if you can put the new drive on a separate adapter from the old one. If they share a cable, it generally works OK, but there may be odd incompatibilities. : Are the Seagate Medalist a good HD? : : Thanks in advance. : Andy K : : -- /* George Durbridge, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia */ /* tel 61 (03) 9280 3390 fax 61 (03) 9280 3355 */ /* gdurb@melbourne.dialix.com.au */

As far as installing another brand HD that should not pose any problems.
Yes Seagate is a good HD.
The only thing that you may want to watch for is that a lot of newer
HD's are Ultra DMA/33. Make sure that you get one that is compatible with
your computer. If your computer does not support Ultra DMA then you may
have problems with it.

But have seen many messages posted this and other NGs concerning problems with this drive and certain Asus boards - why not err to caution and select one of the other good HDs available ? > The only thing that you may want to watch for is that a lot of newer >HD's are Ultra DMA/33.
