I have/had MS Access 97 (as part of Office 97 Pro), but then upgraded to Office 2000 Standard, not really worrying about no Access, as I already had it installed and only really bought 2000 to upgrade Word. How, after installing Office 2000, Access still worked fine, at least when I initially opened it a couples times to check it was still OK. However, when I actually needed to use it, all I got was a message box saying: "Microsoft Access can't start because there is no license for it on this machine." The fact that both Office 97 & 2000 are bought and registered is of little consequence (I assume), so I figure there must be a Registry setting that was somehow changed in the course of using Office 2000. I have had a couple of looks but am not sure what to look for. I have tried reinstalling both versions, in various orders, repeatedly, so that doesn't seem to be the answer either. Does anyone know what the hell is going on here, and how to fix it? I should be able to use Access, as i paid for it! (and the 2000 upgrade! Thanks again Microsoft!!!). So do I call you Ozzy, or Frank...? :-) I had exactly the same problem. It's an issue with Access and Win98 - read about it here: http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q191/2/24.ASP. Luckily, the software patch to fix it is also available through the above link. Cheers.
