I am running out of hard disc - I only have 3.5GB. I would like a simple
utility that would provide the storage size of my folders on the hard disc -
preferable a utility that could sort on size etc - may be generate a CSV
file for use with Excel?
I currently have windows95 and use explore. I right click on the folders
and look at properties which then gives me the folder storage size. I then
write this on paper!!

Any help greatfully received.

You use open a DOS window and use the DIR command to create a text file
which could then be manipulated in Excel with some simple filtering and
formulae to give you whatever information you want.

For example,
	dir c:\windows /og-s /s /v >c:\temp\tree.txt
creates a text file called tree.txt in the C:\Temp directory. The file
contains a listing of all files in the Windows directory and sub-
directories thereof. Thes are sorted in decreasing size order with
directories grouped first, giving full details of the files:
e.g. DOS File Name (8.3), Actual Data Size, File Size Allocated, Date
Modified, Last Accessed, File Attributes and Long Name.

Use DIR /? to get help on the switches.
