Several months ago I posted a message questioning whether telecommuting was a reality or just a perk to full-time employees, but not really open to consultants. Since then many people have responded that they would like to get into telecommuting also, and wondered if I had any luck selling this idea to a client. Unfortunately, many clients are contacting me for full-time on-site positions, and are ignoring the objective section of my resume which asks specifically for telecommuting work. In fact, 540 people have reviewed my resume at http://www2.netcom.com/~dandicar/resume.html, but not one of the many callers have mentioned telecommuting. My question is this: how would you go about getting a client to consider you as a telecommuting programmer? I have thought about asking every one who read this meesage for a copy of their resume, the logic being that I could present a number of telecommuting programmers to the client and not just myself. But I'd like to hear your thoughts on marketing yourself as telecommuting programmer. Thanks, Dan
