I worked in a small office.Whenever a telemarketer called we told them they had to speak to Robert who was the (pick one) CEO, CFO, purchasing manager. Whenever someone asked for Robert we knew it was a sales call and and either told them that Robert (pick one) was in a meeting on vacation/at a trade show/on a sequestered jury or we just put the call on hold. A larger company can set up a mail box for Robert where he says that he does not take any telephone solicitations and all proposals must be via the mail. If you do not want to hang up the phone (this actually is a favor to them) tell them that you do not do any business on the phone and ask them to mail you something. That should end the call. -- To reply via e-mail please delete 1 c from paccbell
