   I believe they are.  I'm statistically likely to be one of the
oldest readers of this n.g. (mid-60's).  I've listened to political
conversations since Roosevelt was in office.  My first presidential
vote was cast for Kennedy.
   On the basis of that perspective, yes, I do believe that these last
two elections were different: a dangerous, destabilizing amount of
power is in the hands of a single out-of-control political machine.
   Worse, everything has become orders of magnitude bigger, mostly
because of computers - the corruption, the money, the lies, the
mistakes, the frauds, the coverups - everything.
   Starting out in the early 40's as the hope of the western world, we
have devolved in an oligarchy perfectly capable of smashing anything
that gets in "our" way.  Imho, it's impossible exaggerate how serious
this situation has become.  I tell everyone who seems vaguely
interested:  VOTE in November... or lose the right to vote for the
foreseeable future.
