In the newsgroup <news:alt.binaries.photos.original>, there is a 
discussion (with pictures of the product and the result of its use) 
about the pretty bad result one fellow got after using Self Dry Rain-X 
Car Wash on his auto. The product left spots so bad you can't really see 
through the windows. 

He has tried all kinds of cleaning solutions, and nothing has worked so 
far. He is currently trying steel wool and a razor blade. No word yet on 
whether those will succeed. He even got an estimate for replacing all 
the glass on his car ($1,900). He has also written the Rain-X company 
for their advice.

For those interested, the thread Subject: line is "Do Not Use This 
Product" (no quotes).
