In article <BuMn4A.EqB@nic.umass.edu>, procha@titan.ucc.umass.edu (PAUL ROCHA) writes: Well, to hook up a second line on your phone jacks (this is assuming that you are hooking them up in a residence, or someother NON-PBX setup.) You simply connect the Red wire from the Network Termination Point to the Black wire of your house/office wires, and the Green wire from the NTP to the Yellow wire of your house/office wires. That's backwards. In quad wire, green and black are the tip colors, and red and yellow are the ring colors. So wire green to black and red to yellow. In multi-pair cable, white/blue would be tip/ring of the first pair, then white/orange for the second. Most modern phones don't care if you wire them backwards, but some older phones do, and it's a good idea to do it right.
