Equip req'd for Call-Waiting Caller ID?

BellSouth is selling an enhanced Caller ID product which claims to display ID information for an incoming Call-Waiting call (in addition to the call you're already talking on). Unfortunately, the only compatible display equipment I can find is a display phone sold by (surprise!) BellSouth. Does anyone know of third-party sources for this kind of Caller ID box? Has anyone had experience with this service in the Atlanta, GA area?

That's probably the one sold by Bell South. It has ADSI protocol and can be used for home banking in Canada Trust territory, too. Right next door to Atlanta, BEL-Tronics in Covington, GA sells a CF-130 telephone that reponds to CIDCW. -JoH

I use that service, and it works great. No more rushing off a call just to find out it's a telemarketer. I do have a BellSouth phone.

I have the service on my phone lines and it is ok I was a little dissapointed that the CW tone is generated still and will still kick you offline. AT&T also has a model that you can use as well it is available at the Phone Center Stores. Also Check Radio Shack I saw in the Catalog a phone that supports Caller ID Deluxe

The retail ->price is $69.95. That's kind of a rediculous price. It is a very simple device, and does nothing but display who called, their phone number, and what time they called, and remembers these dates and times. I think the Bell South one is $19.95. It is Model # Cl-61, and is custom manufactured for U.S. Electronics by Cybiotonics Limited, and is made in China. For questions or warranty service call 1-800-338-1694. The unit can probably be made for about $5.00 so $69.95 is utterly rediculous. :-) ->Please contact us directly for purchasing information. Mine also came with a deal from the local provider. But had me call
the order-desk at the manufacturer to arrange shipping myself:
Collonial Data Technology 800-622-5543
The model they sent me is the CDT2000. Its black name/number unit
with 85 memory locations (or 93 depending upon which figure in the
literature you believe). It's a bit wide (about 8 inches), with the
usual review up/down, delete, contrast. The call-wait ID seems to
work fine. In fact, for some reason, cellular calls never issued
caller ID (and still don't), but now I get the ID info ONLY IF THE
CALL ARRIVES DURING CALL WAIT. A quick DVM test during on-hook
proved that the info is only sent during call-wait rings (odd?!?)
Supposedly this unit sells for $80, but was reduced to $36 with the
NYNEX call feature packagae (which can be cancelled after one month).
There is probably some truth to that, because the same offer allows
you to choose a 128# memory NON-Call wait ID for free, istead of the
call-wait model. That NON-ID model is a top of the line $49 variety.

I'm planning a move from an apartment to a new house this month. It's funny, but while I was talking to a Bellsouth rep about moving my telephone service, she asked me if I wanted Caller ID (among other services). When I replied "no thanks", she said "...even if we _give_ you the ID box?". Hahaha... sounds like they may be giving away the devices for a sign-up.

I've got to jump in and defend Marc Cohen. It looks like a good price to me for a CIDCW box. The BEL-Tronics unit is an integrated telephone with CIDCW and it costs $200.00. Some people don't know the difference between CID and CIDCW. ;-) -JoH In article <5dl3ei$m2j>, Holger <jw434-81@atl.mindspring.com> wrote: >"Marc J. I don't like call waiting. I think it is kind of rude to put people on hold that you are talking to in order to get another call. I think it is better to let my voice mail catch any calls that I get while on the phone. :-) By the way, the $19.95 model will store many calls. :-) I think at least 10. ->-JoH ->In article <5dl3ei$m2j>, Holger <jw434-81@atl.mindspring.com> wrote: ->>"Marc J.
