Examining the wound in Raven's thigh Chalmers realized that the arrow
had passed right though her flesh and the tip protruded out the other side.
A small amount of green fluid was still evident on the tip, Chalmers touched
the liquid and tasted it, immediatly spitting it out. "Poison, very crafty,
just who are these guys?" Chalmers took out a small pair of cutters from
his utility belt and snipped the tip and quill off the poisoned bolt.

"Are you hurt," Meriden asked, "can I help you?"

Chalmers turned to see one of the two 'colourful' patrons from the bar, picking
Raven up in his arms Chalmers replied "Yes, she got a bolt through her thigh,
I'm going to put her down in the straw for comfort, are you familiar with
these types of wounds?"

"No problem, I have something in my pack that I think will help her." Meriden
proceeded over to his horse he had left in the stable and began to rummage
around in his bags near by. Upon return Meriden had with him a bright red
strip of cloth.

"I see you have removed the tip and quill, we must pull the bolt through
in order for the scarf to work its magic." Chalmers looked at Meriden and
then at Raven who was still unconsious, "She's still out so she won't feel
the pain, let me do it." Bending down Chalmers took hold of the bolt and
slid it out at the same time Meriden began to wrap the scarf around the
wound.

"The wound will close up and be healed in 24 hours, although there may be
some lingering soreness for a couple of days due to psychological trauma
of being wounded.", "She must be moved to a dry comfortable place in
order to rest."

"Do you have a room in the Inn?" Meriden asked. "I think we have a
'personalized' one upstairs, I will ask the Innkeeper if we can stay another
night." "Will you watch her for a minute, I just want to check on
something?" Trust to Chalmers did not come quickly but Meriden seemed
harmless and he did offer to help, "I must be cautious" Chalmers thought
to himself.

Chalmers walked over to the figures by the wagon, kneeling down he removed
their hoods. "Dark skin, Arabic possibly, what kind of trouble are you in
Raven?" Searching the bodies Chalmers found that each hid 4 throwing
knives, very similar to Raven's Chalmers thought. Each man also sported
a strange tatoo on their right forearm. The three men had money but
nothing worth taking, I'm sure some needy scavengers will come across it
at some time. Examining the small crossbow, Chalmer's intuition was
correct, all the bolts had their tip resting in a small resevoir of
green liquid, poison. "These guys really ment business, I sure hope Meriden's
magic scarf works, the thought of losing Raven now is just unthinkable."

Returning to the stables Chalmers lifted Raven up effortlessly and
started for the Inn. "My sincere thanks to you Meriden, I will see to
Raven and then you must join me at the bar for some ale."

Meriden openned the door to the Inn for Chalmers, stepping through Chalemrs
tossed the barkeep two gold coins and said "I'll need the room for an
extra night barkeep, I hope it won't cause any trouble?" "No, no, no
trouble at all, is there anything I can do?" asked the barkeep, "No,
I believe all that can be done has been done" Chalmers replied looking
over at Meriden. "I will see you in a while, save me a seat!" Chalmers
started up the stairs to their room, Meriden took a seat by the fire.
"Barkeep, my friend will be joining me shortly, for now please bring me
a glass of ale." Meriden took his seat, a smile on his face.
