For newsgroups try comp.lang.c and/or comp.lang.c.moderated You are fortunate in that the language is covered by, arguably, the two best programming language books available. For now you want the tutorial: The C Programming Language by Brian W. Kernighan, Dennis Ritchie, Dennis M. Ritchie Publisher: Prentice Hall PTR; 2nd edition (March 22, 1988) ISBN: 0131103628 If you want to save some money a second hand copy of the first edition will be fine. Later, when you need to look up a detail you will want: C: A Reference Manual by Samuel P., III Harbison, Guy L., Jr. Steele Publisher: Prentice Hall; 5th edition (February 21, 2002) ISBN: 013089592X As for a private tutor in Melbourne, email me to discuss what you expect. Finally, if you mean C++ and not C. Don't go there! It was an attempt to graft the object oriented paradigm onto C and is not a language for beginners.
