You forgot the wife is making toast for the whole neighborhood with
rental toasters.

Efficiency will rule the day. New air-conditioners now have "smart
motors" using fuzzy logic. Refrigerators will use sonic cooling.
Window glass will generate electricity. Buildings have there own fuel
cells. These things are here right now. And the customers didn't have
to take a course in electrical engineering!

You are looking backwards and are stuck in a rut. The public does not
want to follow your archaic way of thinking. I'm sorry that your scare
tactics are so retro!
