Except the Daintree (as one example). The Daintree area in "sunny" Queensland is a rainforest where there has been allowed some residential and tourist development. The greens protested the opening up of the land, but negotiated that a grid electricity connection would never cross the Daintree river to service the area. All residents would use off-grid systems, solar and wind systems. In fact the area gets little usable wind, and very little sun. The local residents do not bother with renewable energy much, they run diesel and petrol generators. When the greens found out they tried to legislate to have the motors turned off, resulting in a massive protest from the locals, especially the businesses. ...Greig
