EVANSTON, Ohio - There's an app for that. Police used an iPhone application to track a carjacking suspect on Monday. Cincinnati police say they received a call early Monday morning regarding a car stolen at gunpoint. The victim told police his iPhone was still in the car, and he helped police track the suspect using an app on the mobile device. The suspect traveled Eastbound on Montgomery Road in Norwood. During the pursuit, police say he traveled several miles, reaching a top speed of about 35 miles per hour. The suspect crashed the Chevrolet Cobalt twice before stopping once at a stop sign, and then hitting a fire hydrant at Holloway Avenue and Hackberry Street. The driver was taken into custody after the second crash. No gun was found and no one was injured in the robbery or chase. The suspect's name has not been released. Police say charges are pending. The caller said they were tracking an iPhone left in the car and could tell police where the car was. Dispatchers relayed the phone's updated locations to officers, who found the Chevy Cobalt near Montgomery Road in Evanston "We're seeing that more and more, through OnStar and other online services like that," said Lt. Alan March, of Cincinnati police. "People have been tablets and other electronic devices. They use that and they call us and it helps us find and recover their property."
