Hi Sandro,

Where can I find the unformat command file?

why did you format your hard drive if you didn't want it formatted?

Use the "unformat" command. No, I'm not joking. Do a net search on it.
When you format a drive the old fat table is stored just in case you
need to undo the format and recover the data,... unless you used the /U
argument. If you use format C:/U it won't save the old fat table and
you've got a problem.

there are companies that will recover the data for you , although for
a hefty price.

rather dissappointed at both the ignorance and arrogance of the replies in
this thread.

as long as physically the sectors of the hard disk have not been
overwritten, there is a fair chance of getting most of your data back. the
FAT tables are obviously clear, so no files are listed.

numerous conventional tools will do the job for you, off hand by name i know
of 'tiramisu' and 'lost & found (powerquest)'. these will scan physically
the sectors of your drive for files which can be recovered, ignoring any FAT
tables. however these utilities themselves are rather costly. if you're
going to go out and buy tiramisu (i'd personally recommend lost and found
over tiramisu), make sure you get a version for the correct filesystem.
