I would like to know the name of the man who lived about a hundred years ago in the San Francisco area that called himself the "King" or "Emperor" of the US. This man convinced everybody to call him "Your Majesty," and he even had money printed up with himself on the bill. Local shopkeepers actually accepted this money. Anybody know who this guy was? -- Reply to Ilene@ThinkApple.com

Norton I, Emperor of the United States and Defender of Mexico. There are some biogs out there, but I cannot remember either authors or titles at the moment. Emperor Norton is still a folk hero in San Francisco. paul Ilene Courland wrote: > I would like to know the name of the man who lived about a hundred years > ago in the San Francisco area that called himself the "King" or "Emperor" > of the US.
