whew. thank you. I've never taken NLP training, but I've worked with several children who were about to be written off (hospitalized or subjected to years of conventional therapy) and as a last resort they were taken to a psychotherapist known throughout our area as the best children's ... around. He works from a full toolbox that includes NLP and a host of other things... and he sucessfully rescues children from the brink in case after case -- without breaking the parent's bank account. I have watched him work and had many conversations with him, and the two things I know to be elementary basics of NLP are that you always start from where a person is -- pace their reality and then lead them where they need to be; and that if what you're doing isn't working, do something else. There's no such thing as "resistance" -- only bad pacing on your part. Past that, I'm just an ardent supporter of helpers/healers/therapists or whatever you call people who are versitile enough and creative enough to do whatever it takes to pull wounded and damaged people back from the edge. For whatever reasons, this bickering has gone on too long. And I think the basic premise that if what you're doing isn't working... probably should've kicked in a long time ago. As far as just how useful a tool NLP really is -- as far as I can tell, it is true that the most flexible element in any system is the one that works best and survives longest. If this supplies added flexibility and versitility on the part of skilled therapists and psychologists -- then any nay-sayers are already on thin ice. assume the appropriate disclaimers....LWebb In article <10378@vtserf.cc.vt.edu>, usdgog@vtserf.cc.vt.edu (Greg Granger) writes: >>... > (* fiery flames from h*ll on *) > Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! > > ENOUGH! > > NLP seems to have some connection with Hypnosis (perhaps, no one has > really posted anything very useful about this technique).
