There is now a mailing list available for those who are interested in learning
about Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and for those who just are curious.
To join the mailing list, simply send e-mail to SERVER@Momad.LI.NY.US
with the following line in your email:

JOIN NLP

Very simple, eh? And if you join the list, but then decide you don't want to
remain on the list, all you have to do is send e-mail to the same address,
Server@momad.li.ny.us, with the command:

UNJOIN NLP

in your message. When you join, you will automatically receive the
help file for the NLP Mailing List. Please join today. After all, it's free
ain't it? Seriously, if you have an interest in NLP, please use the
mailing list, rather than wasting bandwidth on Alt.Hypnosis (which is *NOT* for
NLP)

Thanks. See ya on the list!

Thanks for the information; I'll certainly join the NLP list to check it
out.

I'm curious, Taz:
  1) Are there specific kinds of hypnosis that are *PERMISSIBLE* to discuss in
alt.hypnosis? If you propose to exclude NLP, does that mean that you
have in mind a particular set of behaviors you *do* consider appropriate
       to this forum?
  2) I was under the (perhaps mistaken) impression that the active partici-
pants in a newsgroup of Usenet are the the ones who decide, through
their postings and dialog, what are suitable topics. Or, perhaps
you are the official moderator of this group, who gets to make such
determinations; if so, I apologize for sticking my experience in here.

I am sort of disappointed by this new NLP mailing list. I just
discovered the 'alt.hypnosis' list recently and I am enjoying
it very much. It was a wonderful way to meet NLP practitioners
and others with an interest in hypnosis. It seemed a great
place to share ideas with those who could offer suggestions and
with those who would find them new and remarkable. Now I
must look in two places...and I will either have to post answers
to two places or make a decision about which one is more likely
to benefit me and others.

And then I come to the end of the announcement which more or
less uninvites me from the 'alt.hypnosis' list since it states
that alt.hypnosis is "not for NLP". I have a great deal of
trouble explicitly separating NLP from hypnosis expsince I learned
most of my techniques from NLP practitioners and have found
only a few other sources of hypnosis instruction (they do exist)
that are clear and repeatable. The NLP vocabulary provides a rich &
useful means to talk about the methods and effects of hypnosis
and a framework for understanding much of what hypnosis
accomplishes. Almost all NLP practioners have at least an implicit
interest in hypnosis even if the reverse is not true.

Should I leave here totally? How should I configure my postings
if I stay? Does ANYONE actually object PERSONALLY to my use
of this bandwidth? On what basis do you object and how can I
modify my behavior to be respectful of YOUR ideas of what is
appropriate?

I will n,ot of course, PROMISE to comply fully but I thought
that I was behaving correctly and offering useful ideas. I
can only consider a change if I have information to base it
upon.

BTW, I take no offense at Jon Nowak's posting of this information.
I may be misunderstanding, he may be mistaken about the waste of
bandwidth, he may not have intended to imply this, he may be
correctly reminding me of my manners, he may not be referring to
me, etc...

Nobody invites you or un-invites you. As with any newsgroup, we are all
squatters here. The group is whatever we make of it.

Make a contribution. Either ask a question, answer someone else's question,
or tell us why you are interested in hypnosis.

>Does ANYONE actually object PERSONALLY to my use

Hell, yes. You posted this to six newsgroups, and it's bound to create a
flurry of negative responses that get cross posted, as well.

Stop asking strangers on the net for permission to participate, and please
stop apologizing for being less than perfect.

Good because you better not. Otherwise, Jon might get mad, and since Jon
is big and mean, he might hurt you. You better wish Jon a Happy New Year,
too, because Jon might think you're angry at him if you don't.

God, this guy just goes on and on. I deleted five of the six newsgroups
from my response, and hopefully others will do the same.

Not only does he go on and on, he includes the entire original posting
in his follow up.
