UTP has advantages and disadvantages. It is easier to work with, and the cable is cheaper than coax. But you need a hub to connect the machines all together. If you are on a strict budget and don't mind having coax strung around the place, by all means go for it. But if you are putting in a (semi)permanent installation in an office or house, pulling UTP through the walls like telephone wire is quite easy and makes a tidy installation. Properly handled, the two systems should give equivalent performance.
