AM I CHATTING WITH AN AXE MURDERER?

That's what I was thinking when I started falling for my chat buddy El
Maestro. He could've been some freak. Stupidly I flew to the States to
meet him, this person who could've pulled out a knife from under his car
seat as soon as we got in his Nissan at L.A. Airport.

Luckily for me, he was just a wonderful, sexy man who fell in love as hard
as I did and followed me back to Australia. Some others are not so lucky.
Who are YOU really chatting with? Are they the sex or age they claim to be?
Do they have a spouse and kids despite telling you otherwise? It happens!
Don't believe me? Have a look at Catwoman's Story and Anonymous Girl's
Story via :

Has this happened to you or your friends? PLEASE TELL ME ABOUT IT SO I CAN
TELL OTHERS!

This is the stuff of which urban legends are made. Remember, the
babysitter and the man with the hook?

For christ's sake, give us decent blokes a chance will ya. Stop with the
isolated stories cause they're making my life a misery. I've had various
personal ads on the net since last october and have been completely open and
honest with all the women I have chatted to. However, due to these type of
stories none have wanted to meet me personally. The net should work far
better than a personal ad in a newspaper but it doesn't. Why? Just what is
the ratio of axe murderer's to net users anyway?

I have to agree. Mostly there are decent people on the net. And I think that
when you decide to meet a person for a first time, either you got to know
him/her online or through the add, some precautions are not astray but I
wouldn't go as far as wondering if he is an axe murderer.

Meet your special friend in public - that should be enough. Don't scare us
off even before we gather enough courage to answer ;-)

Gee. Can't believe I caused this much conversation with my original post.
I have to agree with the conservatives on this one. Most people on the net
are harmless. There are only a handful of pschyos out there.

Have a look at these stories of people who've met in person after talking
on line :
