What distribution of Linux and what have you got for a PC? If you want to make life really easy for yourself. Put in an additional hard disc and Install Linux onto that. You could also be lazy and only have 2 partitions on it - / and swap. I expect that may not be approved of by some people but it is not compulsory, even if good practice, to partition it up in organised chunks. See if you know someone who runs Linux and talk to them. The choice of the right distribution (Redhat, Debian, SuSE, Definite....) seems to be a matter of taste. Personally I buy a different dostro each time I want a change. Every one has a different install procedure. They all seem to be getting easier though. Don't take what seems like the easy route and get one that installs into your DOS/Windows partition. Apparently, they are dull of problems and performance is lousy. Be prepared to wipe and reinstall it many times before you have fot it right. You may do it anyway for the practice! Read the manuals/HowTo's/bumph etc. Have fun. -- Scott Linux, the ultimate Windows NT Service Pack www.nerdperfect.com
