Could You please tell me why I can not change the value of IFS variable, and how can I do it right? I'm using bash 2.04.21(1)-release (i386-redhat-linux-gnu) When I type: export IFS=: or export IFS=":" then echo $IFS - gives me standard IFS value (space,tab,new line) Value of IFS never changes! Please help me. Thank You very much in advance. Erick@prodigy.net
