I think my menuconfig is botched and I think (THINK) the directions in the Redhat manual messed me up. After using the directions in the howto first (not the manual), I finally got a good kernel compile. I now here the sound after sndconfig, and I can make my modem dial in xwindows and in minicom. I am still having probs getting my ppp script stuff to work and I haven't been able to get my xwindows control panel to set up my system to connect to my ISP, but that will come over time. At any rate, I thank everyone for the help, and I am sorry I resorted to trolling to get attention (hey, I was a little bitter), but it worked, so i am not too sorry. And now, on to my next project, posting to a newsgroup inside Linux. I will let you all know when I accomplish that. Later, JJ begin 666 J. J.
