Yes I had similar problems with RHL 4.2 First READ THROUGH THE MANUAL FIRST. It will explain the in's and out's of the common things and explain stuff that is radically different from the standard linux places for files (RHL does have a few funny things about it) At first I couldn't compile the kerenel. BUT you will have to post your exact details of problems to news groups and if it keeps on failing to compile then your sources are mostprobrably corrupt. Like Mine were. Just go and get the full source from ftp.kernel.org and you will be fine. If it refuses to boot then read the manual first. Yep btw i am now up to my 11th kerenel.
