Don't think it's a prob with LILO, screen wouldn't blink or sth, system would
say "no OS" or something.
It seems like you have 2 probs:
either wrong vertSync-Frequenci, this causes the Screen to turn of for
protection (too high frequency, watch the manual) and some mysterious problem
with the X-Server. try using a standard CRT in your XF86Config, maybe you will
be able to see the other prob.
