First of all, WP8.0 is NOT available in rpm format. The only exception to this might be if you got it as part of a Linux distribution, but I don't recall hearing that any distributions have done this yet. It is true, however, that older versions of WordPerfect are around in rpm format. Next, about your installation problems. Check some of the above threads in corelsupport.wordperfect-linux. Some people fell victim to a bug in Netscape in which Netscape decompresses the gz file without removing the gz extension (or the extension gz is removed without decompressing it, I don't remember which). If your downloaded file lacks the .gz extension, gunzip won't decompress it even if it is still the correct filetype. So, just do a 'mv' to change the name to something with a .gz extension. If you get completely frustrated, you might try downloading it again using a real ftp program such as the command 'ftp' (or 'ncftp' if your distribution has it) from your command shell. Good luck!
