Honestly after running Redhat 5.0 the official release for awhile, I wish that
I could.

OK, OK, I guess that it is Linux after a sort. But I couldn't
get their GUI administration tools to work worth a damn.
And I wasn't about to patch my system up as someone on IRC
suggested to me.
I mean I don't mind applying a few updates when I feel like it,
but I'd rather not be forced to fix so many broken things.
That's what basically turned me off to Debian too.
Now I know that there's lots of rabid Debian users out there.
And hey, if it works for you, more power to ya.
Flame me all you want. For me the stuff just didn't work
so well.
Out of all of the different distributions of Linux that I have
tried, and I've tried a few now, I like Slackware the best.

Yeah, yeah, it's out of date. But Linux is based on UNIX,
and UNIX isn't the newest thing on the computing scene itself.
Maybe newer isn't always better?

Maybe I was too hyped about the Redhat 5 release of Linux.
But then again that's my beef with Windows 95 too.
It too was hyped as the next best thing to the second coming,
and some of us know otherwise now.

I've really got to hand it to Microsoft, they didn't spout off
so bad about Windows 98 this time around. I haven't heard
any outragous promises that I can recall.

But I got sucked in with all of the Redhat 5 hype, and now
am pretty dissapointed with what I have experienced.
By the time I had installed that, I already had a few
expectations of what a Linux system should be capable of,
and how it should go about doing it too. So for me, running
Redhat 5 was taking a step backwards. Even with all of
it's whoop de do features.
Redhat seems to be modeling themselves after a major
software giant that's out there that I have already moved
away from.

Ha ha! I already have one of the entries that just made the list today.I've heard
of bleeding edge but where does that put me?
(someone on IRC told me about it)
Is there somewhere out there past the bleeding edge?
And I normally avoid freshmeat because I'd rather not be the one
lying there with tire tracks on my back. :->

Hmmm, I couldn't access this URL. Something about it not having aDNS entry. Maybe
I should try to resolve it's IP address myself?
