Have to disagree here. No way is Slackware out of date.
I've been using it for a long time and every new install is just
as up to date as all the rest of the Distributions. In fact from what
I read on here with all the redhat problems, I would venture to say 
Slackware's libraries are more up to date than RH's.

I never have the install problems that Redhat users have, including 
compiling and installing apps.

I have installed KDE on three seperate Slack systems without a hitch
and most of the mail I see on the KDE list is from RH users complaining 
KDE won't run or some portion of it won't work.  

If you get to know Slackware, Which I admit may be a little tougher than
the other Distributions, you will have a VERY dependable linux OS.
And the newer versions can be found on ftp://sunsite.unc.edu and all it's
mirrors.
