Unrecognised Usb2 virtual ports - no printer, scanner or camera detected.

New to Linux, I've just installed Mandrake9(kernel 2.4.19). Generally
works ok except for Usb2. The 3 virtual ports listed by an updated
'hardrake' are 'unrecognised'. Nothing on these ports is detected. My
printer, an Epson 760 is good on the parallel port but lies hidden on
any Usb2 port. The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-8ST667 working well with
Windows XP.

Can anyone please suggest a way to fix this?
Thankyou.

USB 2.0 support is a work in progress, with new software
coming out from time to time, including a new driver for VIA
chipsets this week. I suggest you take a note of the
chipset in your motherboard and look at the latest fixes on
Mandrake's website. If the doesn't help, google, using the
chipset identifier, USB 2.0 and Linux.
